Captain Byrd's offers pirate boat tours on Charleston Harbor. Captain Byrd is a licensed historian and a U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captain. Come aboard Persistence and learn about the "Golden Age of Piracy" in Charleston. Sail the very same waters as some of the most famous pirates in history and relive their adventures. Captain Byrd will tell you the story of Blackbeard and his pirate fleet holding the entire city of Charleston hostage and the strange ransom they demanded from her citizens. Discover the legend of female pirate, Anne Bonny, who called Charleston home. Hear the story of the most unlikely of pirates, Stede Bonnet (the "Gentleman Pirate"), and the events that led to his and many other pirates' demise in Charleston at the end of the hangman's noose. Captain Byrd's is the perfect choice for families and small groups, so don't get lost in the crowd on Charleston's big tour boats...Captain Byrd encourages questions and interaction.  Tours depart from the downtown Charleston Maritime Center.
